Address change.

Just got notified that everyone in the county will be getting a new house number to match some new 911 reqiurement. What a pain. If you don't change the number on your mailbox in 30 days they will stop delivering mail.

Confuse them. Change the mailbox and leave the number.

dear son, we have moved. your father read that most accidents happen within 5 miles of home so we could no longer live there. do not worry about the new address, we took the numbers off the house so we wouldn't have to change our address..

They set out to do the same thing here in Lynden. Many house numbers, including mine have duplicates. We have had many packages delivered to the other address. But the political will was weak and $$ got in the way. So I am on the other side of the question.

It happened here. A neighbor told me thay had there house number changed 4 times in the 45 years of living at the same address.
My driveway actually had to be given a name as we now have another home on the same driveway.

They said every 5.8 feet wiil be a new address. Where did they come up with 5.8 feet? Doesn't equate to any metric measurement I know of. It will be interesting since I don't have a driveway. Leave it to politicians.

Probably 58 feet, since that's about standard lot size.

It may depend on the neighborhood too. Where my father lives, the zoning is for large lots (min 6 acres) and his neighbor is the next odd number up from him. This is AFTER they got 911'd. At my last house we owned two lots, and the numbers went by lot as shown on the tax maps.

If it was every 5.28 feet that would be like the rural roads where i grew up. If I am remembering right it made it so the addresses were 1000 higher every mile of road. Made it easier to guess how far to someones house, kinda like mile posts on the highway.

If they stop rural free delivery (Mayberry RFD), you can always go to Sam Drucker's General Store and pick up the mail.

It's not so much for the mail delivery, but more for the police, fire, rescue, and the pizza delivery guy.

It was 5.28 ft so that does make sense. This old brain didn't make the connection. I doubt if most pizza delivery guys would have a clue how to figure that out.

It's gonna be fun trying to find your house via GPS.

Politicians are like cats...... they have an uncontrollable urge to place their scent on everything.
