Looking good, Frank, BUT.... your workbench is far too clean. MM kits built on a clean workbench will never fly as well as when they are built on a messy workbench.
 My years of building MM kits on an exceedingly messy workbench constitute my scientific, longitudinal study proving this thesis......

Haha. It gets messy but I don't like it when it does. I typically give myself 5 or 10 minutes to clean up before "quitting time" so I don't come back to a messy work area the next day.

The main thing to keep in mind with the Switchback is that it's an ultra-light airframe, with not a milligram of excess balsa on it. Go super light on the sanding, and on the covering material, and take extra care not to over-shrink the covering, particularly on the tail surfaces. Some kits are over-designed, with heavy/hard balsa and too much of it. The Switchback errs in the opposite direction. With some finesse and TLC during the build, you'll be OK. |
