The plastic top end of the antenna fell off of my one month old DX5e

transmitter.

The DX5E seems to work fine with just the wire sticking up.

Do I send it back under warranty to have it fixed?

If I do that then I can't fly my plane until it comes back.

Do I just keep using it the way it is?

Anybody else have this kind of problem and how did you fix it?

thanks,
Mike

I did. I took apart (destructively) an old wireless LAN antenna to get to the top rubber bit (destroyed the bottom connector bit but learned a lot about them) and used it on the DX5e. Fitted on perfectly... seems they are an industry standard. The tiny lugs (one each side) used to secure and hinge the top cover piece are really, REALLY small. I recommend you do everything on a sheet of white paper.

I also didn't want the hassle or expense of sending the TX back.

Worth trying, and worked fine for me.
