I've had a hobie hawk since the 70s, had a Kraft brick radio in it, still have the Kraft. Somehow I've managed to keep this beauty all these years stored in my garage....

convert the Kraft to 2.4 with a FrSky DIY module and let her fly free again !

This video doesn't get old. I flew a HH for many years. Such a unique flying plane which is seen in this video. Can't put my finger on it but there is a tendency, much like a dutch roll, but more like a "rocking" back and forth that you don't notice it until you fly it. I still have my original one I got back in 1974. I also have a newer one that I got back in the '90s from a good friend of mine.

After seeing this again I get the urge to get it out and to fly it. It IS a fun plane to fly for a RE only ship.

Hi all after stumbling across this thread, reminds me of the great times I had learning to fly my Hobie at a slope not far from where I lived. I have two of these some where, and I intend to dig them out and restore them, thanks again for this thread, by the way any one have a clue where I could get canopys for these

I can't remember the name on here exactly, but I think it's like " v1vrv2" or something- He does a run of a dozen or so every now and then- search the classifieds, and look for the name that looks like an equation- Hope that helps-

Thank for the info, will contact him, and I will let you all know about the progress of the Hobies, after some time I am getting back to my roots of aero modeling, I.e slope soaring, have just paid for a xmodeles stingray, can't wait to get my hands on that! But in saying that, the days of sitting on the slope, in summer with a lazy, warm southerly wafting up the slope, me with a can of beer in hand(yes we did have the odd one or two) Hobie just gently wafting by, well almost bring tears to my eyes, memories, that was more than 35 years ago!

She looks great. I brought her down to daves beach last weekend to show her off and everyone was impressed with your job of restoring this Hobie. Now to put gear in it and fly fly fly...
