Hi Russ, the props freewheel for the specific and desired effect of "entertainment".

With this being a glider that gets its power from the board held beneath it, the props only cause extra drag, but given its purpose of entertaining visitors at a science museum, they're worth it!

Nice, Kevin,
How did you make the canopy? I framed the model up but ran out of steam when it came to that.

Jim, The canopy is just thin balsa wood bent over a couple of formers. I worked it out with paper canopy parts cut to size through trial and error. Once I got the shapes right I cut the wood to size and CA glued them in place. A little sanding was required after word. I would have liked to have made the canopy from clear plastic sheets but I still don't know how to glue them in place without making a mess with the glue. This model balances without any added weight needed, I really got lucky.

Well, it looks good.

I was all hung up on making a transparent one, but your idea looks very attractive. I will go that route.

While the glue is drying I like to use pins to hold the canopy sheets in place.

ID this plane, plans or maker

Hi,

I am pretty new to this world of FF but had the chance to attend the Cole and Rita FF Meet this past weekend held at the Old Rhinebeck (NY) Aerodrome.

Plenty of variety in models, and plenty variety in flying conditions.

I shot a buch of pics and you can find a slideshow I posted here:

There was one plane on display I haven't been able to ID plans or maker for, this Gee Bee almost no-cal - thin fuselage - perhaps it was a one-off design by the builder, I don't know. I suppose one of you'all will know immediately, any help is appreciated.
Best,
Poughkeepsie Pete

That's a Bruce Matthews design, the Bostonian category "Gee Whiz". I've seen the plans recently over on the Stick and Tissue forum: http://www.stickandtissue.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl in the Bostonian section of the forum.

Or, you could wait a bit, and he'll probably check in here!

Thank you, reference worked out. What a cute rendition of the Gee Bee.
