Hot diesel fuel

Gents,

The attached advertisement appeared in Air Trails, November 1948 issue. I'm guessing the secret ingredient CATACRAX is a made up name for a cetane improver. If so, would this be the earliest mention of doped diesel fuel?

Cheers,
Maris

The reference at the bottom to a "Thimble-Drome conversion kit" must surely be one of the very first conversions offered for a glow only engine?

I have never considered an original Micro due to the ball & socket piston arrangement. I see the AH replica adopts a standard piston set-up.

Handy performance figures too for a replica of a 1947 design. On those figures it would out-perform my RRV Mills 2.4.

I believe this would be a kit to convert the TD Champion " pusher " race car to powered, using the Micro Diesel.

best Regards,
jeff

Aren't diesels wonderful!

You don't get lovely black ooze from a soul less electric!

Taipan Series 13 Blackhead TBR with an OS throttle (it works too!).

Quite quick and aerobatic (even at 1/2 throttle), but it cannot outrun the exhaust slime.
