Rubber engines

Did anyone here ever build radio controls into a rubber engine plane? Or build a plane that uses a rubber engine for propulsion? There seems to be a whole series of treads on how to take a Guillows rubber plane and convert it to electric flight. But what about the opposite, let's say to take the rubber engine of a Guillows and put it under an Ember II ?

This is a forum for radio controlled machines, so there may not be very many free flight builds, check the "Free Flight" forum.

Unless you are talking about a rubber powered rc, but that would not be very practical, because your flight times would not be very long.

No worries... it can be fixed.

I've thought about it before, but for how cheaply you can put a small power system together these days, it really doesn't make much sense.

i have never seen one done. tho its pretty feasable today.

a deltang coil RX runs about 50 usd. its light enought to not be a problem weight wise.

i still want to do one one day, but there really is no reason to do so. motors are very cheap.

hey! if you do it, you'll be the first!

Afraid not, and I doubt the guy in the video below was the first to do it either. But he certainly does a fantastic job of it!

Yea, something like that. I was wondering if you take something like the Piper Cup from Guillows and you put an AR6400 in it, would it make a decent indoor flyer pr would the extra weight of the accu keep it from leaving the ground? And what about those styrofoam wing rubber engine toys they sell at Hobby Lobby?
