Cool
Invictus EF-1 ARF from Hobby King

Hey all,

Time to let the cat outta the bag so to speak. I have been working with Hobby King to develop an ARF for the EF-1 class for well over a year. We chose Invictus, it's different and sexy looking. I have been flying the prototype for some time, and even took it to the NATS. I couldn't be happier with how it flies! It was designed from the outset to be an ARF.

Today I received the first production sample from the factory. I was not prepared for how nice it is! They have really done a first class job, and I'm sure will change some peoples perception of Hobby King. I will be putting it together over the next few days and will give a flight report soon. I am doing the instruction manual, so there won't be any head scratching or translation errors there.

It has a single piece foam core wing with vacuum bagged skins, fiberglass and carbon reinforced cowl, wheel pants & canopy hatch. The cowl is mounted with hidden fasteners accessible through the cheek holes, and the canopy is held on with magnets.

Now, to answer a few questions that are sure to come up:
  • I don't know when it will be released
  • I don't know how much it will cost
  • I'm not sure if this is the final color scheme or if they will offer other schemes or solids

I will add more information as I have it.

Cheers
Red

Thanks for the compliments guys, I'm sure having a blast with this class.

Adrian,

As you may know this plane is designed to fit within the rules of the NMPRA EF-1 class, and as such, must conform to a pretty strict set of rules.

* 4 channel
* WS 50.75"
* Wing Area 383 sq. in
* 4 cell 2200-3000 MAh
* Length 40"
* Min weight 3.25 lbs.

Hope this helps.

Hey,

I had 3 wins and and 0 from a chowed prop on takeoff, which killed my chances of placing well. I think I ended up 17th or something like that. Fast time was 1:10xx

Congratulations

Congratulations Red, it is beautiful and innovative. I would never have been able to keep a secret like you did with Hobby King. I hope they stock it in the U.S. warehouse so it is easier to get to Canada. I need one to make bookends with my Nemesis. The EF1 event is really starting to take-off along the U.S. / Canada border in the west thanks to folks like you. I prefer the solid colour, trim your own plane concept.
Cheers

Really looks fantastic Red, congrat's to you and Hobby King for such an outstanding looking model. I hope they can assemble this model with the quality that you finished yours. You and your mdel flew extremely well at the Nat's last year. I hope we'll see you there again this year.
Very well done, Arch, the old one

Thanks Charles. I don't really know where it will be stocked, but I do hope it comes to the US warehouse. Solid colors would be good too.

I also want to publicly thank Hobby King and Ben Everton as well. The whole experience thus far has been a pleasure. I firmly believe that HK is committed to delivering a quality product. If the production units are as nice as this one, you guys will be blown away.
