New Series Metal EDFs for HobbyKing

Two new series metal EDFs including of 70mm & 90mm size respectively are special made for Hobby King . Those are come with new design multi stator housing and high torque 4 poles motor. The following is some specification for sharing.

70mm
6S version with 10 blades rotor / 7 stator housing / B2960 - 2200kv 4 poles motor. Total weight is 300g. The thrust power up to 2.4kg / 76A / 6S.

Bench testing video:

Cougar F9F-8 on flight testing (20th flight) 6S 3700mAh 35C video:

New 70mm 10 blades metal edf testing flight video 20120805 (3 min 49 sec)


90mm

8S/9S/10S with 12 blades rotor / 9 stator housing /B4074 - 1000kv 4 polkes motor. Total weight is 640g

Thrust power:
8S up to 3.4kg /77A
9S up to 4.1kg /90A
10S up to 4.65kg /98A

RCLander T33 with rubber tires brake system testing video 20120722 (3 min 28 sec)


Both of EDF sets have been passed bench testing (full speed 1.5mins) more than 50 times and on flight testing more than 20 flights. Both of those testing result are performed very well. Meanwhile both of EDF sets can be allowed to taken higher time mode ESC setting and higher C amount Lipo (40C or below) for power supply.

Both of those EDF sets are coming soon....

Things are going to get really interesting in EDF in near future....

I think the more people who are to experiment the more technology improves

I wonder what's the purpose of the grooves on the ID of the housing just where the blades are positioned.

That 90mm setup sounds awesome! Great job Tim. Looks like the market is catching up to the Stu. Give it another 2 yrs and these fans will have the thrust to compare also.

Thrustwise therefore efficient wise the stumax is ahead.. Its more than a half kilo for the same qmp draw more thrust
Anyway this thing if its up to the task with the given wattage its still a great achievment.
Given that the cs12 was failing. 2 failed on me...
Second one just yesterday...

Are you exceeding the manufacturers specs? If so I dont consider that failing I consider that causing it to fail... As I've seen/read a lot of on the CS12 90mm thread. I have 6 fans and haven't had a single failure 4 from xflight and 2 from HK ran on 6s and not exceeding 1700kv or 3000watts, but pushing it close.
