As the title says, is anyone aware of a 30mm spinner that fits a 5mm motor shaft? I feel like i've searched high and low, but can't find anything, and I thought maybe someone else had an idea...

I've got a 1115 with a 5mm shaft begging to go fast...

Edit: I should note that im looking for a non-folding prop spinner, but if it was possible to modify a folding spinner, id be happy to be enlightened

Not really spinners but the only 5mm I could find. Maybe you make something work.

That's like trying to shoehorn a small block chevy into a VW Bug.

Maybe have a look at this: http://spinners.tealbox.com/ I'm almost sure it is possible to change the 4mm version in a 5mm.

Sorry, the BB Turbo is for folding props only, I missed the fact you wanted a fixed prop spinner the first time through.

They can be modified for a small fee or you can do it yourself.

I've assembled such a setup from spare colletts and parts. You need a cap that uses a center screw for retention, a collett that has a threaded hole up front for said screw, but a small enough shaft for your prop, and a back-plate that works with the collett you choose. Can't provide any specific parts, just know it's possible to pull it together from various parts..

Thanks for this link. I sent them an E-mail to see if they could make a special one. Although I think it might be possible to bore out my own, i'd rather not take that risk.

Andy, thanks for that tip. From what i've had (5mm collets and 3.175 spinners) I can't really wrap my mind around what you can do. The problem is most of the spinners take the smalll apc adapters (~5mm?), and the 5mm collets always take an 8mm bore. Maybe I need to look around a little more, as your idea sounds great since you don't have to modify anything...

Used to be graupner 30mm spinners were only available with 3.2mm shaft + 8mm prop hole, but according to this, they have one for 4mm shaft.

The question is, is there enough meat left in this model's hub area to bore to 5mm as a retrofit? Maybe they can provide you dimensions. If so, I'd recommend boring it out in a lathe with a collet so the new hole is true. Off-center & out of balance even a little bit, is a bad thing at high rpm.

As you can see in this picture there is a boss sticking out the back of the spinner where they have the 4mm bore. The prop shaft is still 6mm so the bore does not go as far as that as it would be too weak. Therefore if the boss is not a problem, boring out to 5mm should not be a problem, although not the best solution IMHO.

I think it would be easier to just get a new rotor from Steve.

This is a good point. It certainly is the most fool-proof idea...

I like the stability of the 5mm shaft, as this motor sees duty in slightly more abusive applications (stryker, etc). So i'd like to maintain the strong shaft if possible...

.. OK, I remembered what I did. I used the cheap DuBro (or similar) plastic spinner, and adapter it (judicious application of dremel sanding wheel) so that it could be used with a regular 5mm adapter. I have picked up a dozen or more different sized spinners at swap meets over the years, and had one or two that worked..

They have 30mm and 5mm shaft. Very good spinners. Impossible to come loose.

I had to modify a Turbo spinner for my Neu 1110 with a P32 gearbox that has a 6mm shaft. I drilled the collet out to 6mm where it fit very tight. That was a 40mm spinner so I would think a 30mm with a 5mm shaft would be even harder to find. Although I had a thought while writing this and went to:
