Build Log
M-Jolle Satan (Scale 1/5)

Hello,

some months ago I could buy a Z-Jolle Aero II, the big one in scale 1/4.5 and a length of 81 inch. She sailed really fine and was a real beauty, but she was too big and heavy for me. I sold her after two times sailing.

This sailing experience keeps in my mind. I was looking for something similar, but shorter and lighter.

Finally found what I was looking for. A 15mē Rennjolle „Satan“ designed in CAD and slightly modified from A. Franzen.
Scroll down for Satan: http://www.classic-modellyacht-desig...llen-1918-1945

You may wondering why it's sometimes called "15 mē Rennjolle" and sometimes "M-Jolle". M is the classification letter, like Z for the Aero II. The Aero II is a 20mē Rennjolle. So, "15 mē Rennjolle" is the official name and M is the classification. That's why people call them colloquially M-Jollen.

Specifications:

Original
Class: M-Jolle / 15 mē
Draftsman: Anton Miglitsch
Year: 1939
Length (hull): 7.6m (~25 feet)
Beam: 1.75m (~6 feet)

Model
Scale: 1/5
Draftsman: A. Franzen
Lenght (hull): 152cm (~60 inch)
Beam: 32cm (~12 inch)

The milled staions arrived yesterday. Still a prototype, no one build it yet. I will build up a master form from this staions and cast a light hull out of it. I'm trying to reach a weight of 1.5 kg with all electronic, sails, etc without the bulb. The bulb should be around 4.5 kg. Well, I'll see how light I can build it.

You can find some orignial pictures from other M-Jollen here:

Little progress, staions fixed and glued. Started planking.

The 3D Images are from A. Franzen. Thats how the hull should look like.

Not much done. I'm still sanding. I stiffened the inside with epoxid and fiberglass.
