Strike, the guy next to me at work reckons he's going to put my F16's power system into the Stinger! Should go alright

At the moment, he's got the stock fan, I rewound the motor, running on 4s...

if it's the TV one it will do juuust fine.. believe me

not flown yet , hope to test fly tomorrow if the weather holds up , i did have to remove some foam to get the fan in as its been said sandpaper works great on foam, im not really bothered about the extra speed , i wanted more power for vertical flight , the stock 3 cell fan/motor soon runs out of power if you point your stinger straight up , i have my fingers crossed that mine doesn't stop now

that's why im asking what size batteries and c rating others are using , as there must become a time when power to weight runs out and flight times start to drop from carrying to much weight ?

Flaperons are easy Dave, as long as you have a separate channel for each aileron and set your tx to flaperons... Then it's just a case of mixing. Dial in a certain amount for each stage... You can add elevator for each setting as well.
I am using a Spektrum dx7.

even a dx6i is possible..

I did thought of having flapperons but for a heavy 4S setup, you might need spoilerons setup instead. I have a feeling that Flaperons will cause it to flip forward due to it being nose heavy.

Perhaps a very small amount of flapperon would work.

I thought spolerons and flapperons are the same thing for these little bird.

The trick is to have a switch for put down both the ailerons,while put up a bit the elevator for compensate ... this will increase the lift at a cost of the additional drag ... so is nor nose nor tail heavy if properly set up. just perfect for slow down before landing.

I put almost on all my birds dual ailerons servos for achieve this result. The tricky part is to trim it properly .... I almost stuck in the air my big Yak 54 3D while trying this mixing

Predict how much elevator is needed for compensate the ailerons down is tricky, it is quite unique for each bird

Mine is setup with flaperons and mixed elevator into it.. Works perfectly!

Oops... The hawk is set up like that but need to do the same with my Stinger

yeah fusiontiger. If i had the money i woukd have ordered 2 kits because im afraid all this wait will be there everytime its out of stock.

Ooo!!! Ok, I'll try flapperons with elevator mix! I was getting worried about the landing speed for a 4S setup on my already-overweight Stinger.

What do you guys recommend for painting this EPO foam? I have a bottle of acrylic paint that I brushed onto my Z-foam planes. Will this work good on EPO also?

thanks for the reply there strike , i think i get the basics , i also use a DX7, do you mean a separate servo for each aileron ? rather than a separate channel ?
also with mixing in the elevator would it go up or down ?

i had my first flights on 4cell today , its only 2200mAh batteries that im using at the moment , landing wasn't a problem with theses sized batteries , but my flight times have dropped down to just 3 minutes , was getting 4 on the same sized 3cell packs , so it looks like bigger batteries are going to be required at some point , what sized batteries is everyone else using ? and whats your flight times please

pavcon , hope you dont have to wait to long for delivery , are you staying stock or going 4s ?

Both. you need 2 servos on separate channels for flaperon/spoileron. Cant answer the other q's, sorry
