Looks like two singles hooked up front to back. Think about flipping one around and designing a cylinder block with bores spaced just far enough apart to get a center bearing on the crank shaft. then put the valve chests on each end. Use one displacement oiler and manifold the two steam supplies to the valve chests.
Would look more like a 2 cylinder engine than 2 singles.

Nice ! As opposed to aesthetics on the a different arrangement- as it stands now the ability to not be self starting would be the biggest concern to me. If they were 90 degrees off they would be more reliable in self starting as well as running smoother.
And yes flipped around and have valve casing facing out would look more traditional - but Saito and Aster ( made by Saito perhaps) did have this arrangement on their 2 and 3 cylinder engines. The linkage should be able to flip around in your CAD program so the reversing gear stays simple like you have it and be controlled by one lever.
I also like the inclusion of a driven water pump. Nice touch
To combine exhaust, intake manifolds and only have one lubricator would be more cost effective for you as well as a cleaner look.
Keep up the work!!
