Will do! I don't think it will be possible, just trade off weights and components. I havn't had any time lately but I'll be playing with it.

Anyone have an idea of top speed on the 35" version with the stock motor/prop? 60-70mph?

Cg???

What CG point are you guys running?

I've read some posts that say the manual recommended 200-212mm makes it too tail heavy, some say it's great there

I just finished mine (stock 2208 motor, 8g servos, etc.) and a quick check on my CG sticks and I can tell it's going to take a LOT more than a 1300mah 3s to get close to 200mm.

I am flying a 1000mAH 3 cell that I had on hand. I needed to add a significant lead slug to the nose to get the recommended CG. I hate to add lead, but it flies fine. I bored a 3/8 inch hole in the nose and in a block of scrap wood. I poured molten lead into the block and when it solidified transferred it to the hole in the foam. That worked fine with minimal disturbance to the foam.
I agree that a larger battery gives you something for the weight, but the battery hole can only get so big before it compromises the structure of the nose.
The Popwing is the plane I fly the most. Always in the car when I go to the field.

Vito

So you do fly it with your CG at the 200-210mm then?

If not, what CG point did you end up liking?

Thanks Vito. 20cm/200mm is what the manual calls for (although the manuals are rarely correct), so I'll start there and see how it goes.

Last question for you all:
How much control surface deflection are you guys using? I was thinking maybe 3/4" up/down?

My Mini Popwing is ready for maiden, but my instructions seemed to have left town, where's the suggested CG?

I generally a slow builder, but what little assembly was required on this was impressive, nice kit.

Wing tip location???

Hey, guys. I just picked up the MINI from Common Sense on a sale. All the pictures I have seen of the plane from the TechOne site, and other hobby shops, show the wing tips pointing up from the end of the wing, BUT....the instructions in the manual that came with the plane, clearly show mounting the wing tips with them hanging DOWN from the end of the wing....

Which is correct???

Thanks,
Mike

Azarr, the instructions in the manual say 135 to 142mm from the center point of the wing.....

Mike,
I built mine with the tips above the wing. Look at the pictures on the first page of this thread.

Might get to fly it Sat. It took a 730mah pack to get in the range. Hopefully the CG isn't off on the mini also.
