It's only 185 km as "the crow flies"!!!
That's right on your doorstep!
I'm just waiting...
To bump Steve's extravaganza build thread...
Just have to extract myself from a few things first!

The plug progress has really been slow..
Made worse by redoing it all over!
It's looking the part and the tail fin is a lot thinner.
The wing has been handed over to Sean to complete.
He'll fit the holding down bolt, servos and general cleaning up.
He's actually very good at it!
(Just careful he doesn't develop a fat head!)
By the end of the weekend we should have the plug sorted and the splitter board done!

Your Alula was doing great in that Vid...
She was a bit small to see, but was moving well.
What birds were those in the background?
They all seemed to be enjoying the lift!
I love my Alula and Weasel!
If you had asked me a couple of months ago about a flying wing...
The shutters would have come down!
I mentally bundled all the slope trash into a bundle and discarded them!
I know zaggies and a few others have a place on the slope, but they just don't do it for me!
This has changed my perspective completely...
They are a pleasure tho fly,
I love the side arm launch!
Let me get back and finish the Sally!

The birds are turkey vultures, and this seems to be their favorite spot.
I agree about the Alula and the Weasel -- and am expecting the Sally to take it to the next level! I've just got to get someone to cut me some cores before the summer runs out. Not that winter has stopped us from flying... flew with a friend on New Year's Day this year when it was 12 degrees F. (that's -11 degrees for the Celsius-inclined)

I hate spray painting!
It goes all over the place....
It ends up with runs...
B U T
Nothing looks better than when you look at the final product!
Sean's sitting in the corner with a grin eating popcorn!
He's done his bit...
Cut the servo recesses,
Fitted the plug for the holding down bolts....
Issuing quality control comments,
He wants to see the finishing art work!
He's given his approval to the designated name
Some of my "tacky" clip art!
Don't worry Steve...
Just the brand name for our commercial production runs...
Planned for release just before the Xmas rush!
(We'll mention you as one of our famous test pilots)

Nice looking bird!
I love watching birds sloping or thermaling...
You can keep the cold!
It's mid winter here and our midnight temp is currently 18.2 c
It's much colder inland, but our climate is temperate.
Have you tried cutting your own cores?
Bit of a mission cutting out the templates, but not that bad.
I know you are waiting for us to fly one first....
Just to check 'Thepasty' got it right!

What's in a name?
Well, she is a Sally...
Sounds like a red head!
(With a dark side...)
Raven it'll be!
And as I have this extensive collection of "Tacky clip art"
All I had to do was add the text!

Primer coats are done!
The plug is looking good and so is the wing...
Some minor filling and sanding and we can go onto the finishing coats!

I've got a friend with a foam cutter, actually several. One makes kits for RC powered combat, but it's sounding like he's backlogged some. My other friend has got all the equipment, but he hasn't made a wing in over 10 years because he ended up with a sensitivity to epoxy, and can't get near the stuff. I should be able to get him to cut my foam, at least.
Keep sending pix, and send a video soon!

[QUOTE=Zenmaniac;15497726]Well... ya painted her like a blonde!!!
They all start off blond before they are "enlightened"
My other friend has got all the equipment, but he hasn't made a wing in over 10 years because he ended up with a sensitivity to epoxy, and can't get near the stuff.
I'm sure my wife would wish me to get THAT affliction!
