Question
Has Fedex ever said they delivered when they didn't?

The wife ordered some stuff and when it didn't arrive called the vendor. They said Fedex delivered. She called Fedex and they show that the package was delivered. She was home that day so we know it wasn't delivered. By the way, this is not a vendor on this forum.

The vendor is saying they have to file a dispute with Fedex and can't refund or ship a replacment. Fedex wasn't much help saying they would "talk with the driver". A few minutes ago, the vendor called back and said they have the delivery in dispute but Fedex has till the 18th, I guess they mean till then to investigate. Oh yea, they also said Fedex reported that they tried to call us. Huh? They don't call for a standard shipment. Maybe they mean after the package was reported lost but I think they mean at the time of delivery.

The vendor was told that we would dispute with the CC and this didn't phase them. They're going to wait on Fedex so the question is has anyone had a delivery dispute with Fedex and if so what should we expect?

On a side note, should Fedex find the package or the vendor decide to re-ship, do you think it would be ok for us to refuse given it was a present that we no longer need because we had to go out and buy something else? I think yes but wanted to test the ethics water a little.

Thanks
John

I have only had one problem with FedEx. A package I sent came open, and some parts were lost. Called FedEx, and they took care of the problem right away. Sent the recepiant a check for the cost of the replacement parts, including cost of shipping the parts.

at one point i used fedex to ship computer components to people all over the country most of the time everything went fine, but they had a bad habit of dropping things at the door and calling it done.
when there was a question they always covered it, but it could still be a pita. ask them to show where you signed for it, that should stop all of the bs.
if i did not need it i would not reorder, it should have no bearing on the outcome,
also the credit card company should take care of you first in all deputes.
good luck

I agree Sprint!
I also waited for a week for a product that they said was delivered only to find it behind a bush by the front of my house! (again, Fedex marks it "delivered")
Yes,
ask for the proof that they gave it to you... (signature)

Twice I have had them deliver things to addresses about 1/2 mile from my house. But in both cases they knew exactly where the item was delivered and who signed for it, so they were able to pick it up and drop it off correctly. I did have to phone them and tell them i did not have it to get them to track them down.
My guess is that the driver just lumped them in with some other stuff by mistake, but because they have to scan everything they can track the error.

They should be able to email you a copy of the signature.

I had stuff delivered to my house numerous times that wasn't mine. Right house number but wrong street. A few years ago UPS dropped off an Urgent Overnight package to my home but it was for a house up the street. I brought it over to the right people. The very next day another UPS truck dropped off another Urgent Overnight envelope. This time I was home and pointed out that this was the wrong house. Didn't seem to phase the driver I'm guessing stuff gets delivered to the wrong place all the time.

You know, we rag on FedEx all the time, but they are still one of the best shipping choices out there.
They even delivered a package months after it had been washed up on a deserted island.

Thanks for all the comments. Sounds like there is a very good chance that Fedex will make this right. Fingers crossed.

By the way, we talked to Fedex and they report that they don't have a signature given "no signature was required for the package". Is this possible?

We know all of our neighbors and they are all great. I've not asked but I bet if they got it then I'd have it by now. If they delivered say on another street then there could be an issue. The package had food items so it is probably eaten by now ... sigh.

I rarely had products shipped by fedex but they usually make it here when a vendor use's there service. Ups and the usps is another story here but they all have similar problems getting your stuff to you sometimes. Try not to order around christmas.. busiest time of the year for packages and highest rate of lost or damaged packages if you even get them.. and usually later than expected. Some that stand out from years past, several years ago the ex got me a traxxas e-maxx.. never got here(shipped during christmas)I hope who ever got it enjoys it.. i ended up just buying one and dont remember if the ex ever got it settled with the dispute department. About 4 years ago had a plane with all the gear shipped usps.. knew it was coming so watched like a hawk and stayed current with the online tracking and was home the whole time.. was checking the tracking since it was in the area for delivery and it showed it was delivered around the time i was checking?. Called the vendor, called the postal inspector.. got lucky on that one and they had someone deliver it within 30 minutes,i got bogus info at first but stated i spoke with two postal workers to check earlier in the day if it was in there truck that had been in my area even though at first they said it was delivered and that there is only one person for this route on the phone. Ups about 2 years or so ago same deal,a speed control i needed to finish a plane.. home the whole time and checked regularly for updates on the web tracking.. wow it just got here according to online tracking but no truck no one at door? Called vendor and called ups.. got the run around with ups. They asked if i checked around the home and if i checked my neighbors homes for the package? Humored the person and went out with the cordless phone and checked around MY home.. no where to be found,i asked can you call the driver and ask where he delivered it? No they cant? oh really.. hmmm, well the longer they stone wall the harder it is to recover the package, Usually if i get neighbors mail i take it to them and vice versa but packages never make it back here when they go to the wrong house or on the wrong block i guess . Vendor sent out another esc and i guess battled ups. Ive had some packages come ripped apart and taped and some smaller non rc stuff that never made its way here either(outgoing packages have done pretty good though knock on wood).

Bottom line once something is shipped its out of your hands and the vendors.. doesnt matter what service is used it can cost both time and money unfortunately when the shipping service screws up. If the package was time sensitive such as a gift for someone thats even worse. I wouldnt have it reshipped and understand saying screw it.. id just by xyz locally and have the present for the person when you were suppose to have it. Unfortunately now the vendor will have to dispute with the shipping service to cover the loss of the package,if they do ever find the package and deliver it id send it back to the vendor.

Its possible but doesnt sound to likely, you would have to specify you waved a signature during purchase usually(this waves your insurance basically),when fedex has delivered here it was mandatory to sign for it.. had to go to there warehouse before to get a package years ago from them when it didnt make it here on time while i was here and i didnt want to wait a few extra days for it to be rescheduled for delievery. Ups and usps usually leave a signature at the drivers discretion(ie area,is it a package that can be placed in a mailbox etc or placed out of passer by view). Ive been really surprised sometimes when a small value item wasnt delivered and was rescheduled because i wasnt here to sign for it but larger very expensive packages were left in plain view out front? Fedex has always adhered to there signature policy from my experience and it isnt discretionary to the driver.

I think it is just that the drivers are too lazy to lug the big heavy boxes back to the truck

I also should add that I have almost everything shipped to my work. With the company name and address USPS, UPS, FedEx etc will find it and someone is always at the front desk for receiving.
