Looking forward to seeing your build, Bill. The semis are challenging. Just take your time and drop us a line if you have any questions. The end is well worth it all.

Yer, the Tamiya big rig kit was one of most interesting builds I have ever done. I spent ages varnishing the wood trailer deck to make it look real neat. I'm using the Axial AE-2 esc and a CC bec running 3s lipo with the 65T crawler motor. Awesome low end grunt & flighty top end. It's got Carson Crossforce semi offroad tyres, aftermarket wheel arches, metal rear bumper and full ball bearings, even on the trailer, lol. I got all the parts and MAN stickers off a UK ebayer who loves the trucks too.
None of my mates own a big rig either, so I just potter around too. They like the fast stuff. I love the scale, the build and reverse parking with the trailer.
One day, I'd like that Shell tanker trailer..
Rgds,
Pete

That's sweet Bill.

But, it is built. It would be a sin not to build it myself. I am saving my coin for that petrol tanker and trailer light set.

i agree it would be a sin...i just believe that when you can find something you really want and much cheaper you must grab the chance...now about that sin you can save your coins for another truck or trailer...
just an opinion...
by the way you should give a try to a more European style 3axle trailer....it will sit better with a European truck...maybe I'm saying this because I got used to them all day being on the road...

Yer, I like the Tamiya Maersk trailer which is 3 axle, Reefer and the NYK. I just wish the Shell fuel tanker trailer was 3 axle. These trailers are priced more here than my rig?
The Euro truck trailers are way out of my price range atm.

I really can't justify the costs of the trailers. Some of them cost more than the tractors! Why? A plastic box with three axles is $500, while a tractor with three speed transmission, dual drive axles, and detailed interior is $400. That makes no sense.

Maybe they get you hooked with the tractor and then hit you with something for it to pull.
By the way, what's an mfu and how much are the light kits you all talk about? Where do you buy them? Norgale

Pete,
The MFU is the Tamiya mutli function unit. The Tamiya big rigs and 3 speed Toyota's use them. I think there are a few variants, 1-3. Built in esc, sounds, vibration, lights, everything bar cook you dinner.
I'd say hobby shops, ebay, rcmart, Tower etc would all sell them. Pricey as the rig, but extreme realism.

The MFU goes for about $420.00. But yes, it's worth it!
