which auto pilot?

Hi Guys
I am only running a 2.4ghz controller and but use my plane for FPV.
What System would you use as a return to home auto pilot??. Although I dont fly far, I dont want to lose my plane and FPV gear if it browns out
thanks
Sparkie

Some questions ,
You say plane, but your screen name is quad flier ?
Next , what type of FPV flying are you doing?
Pictures of your setup will help .
Is it a small size ??
Can it carry the weight ?
Or size of OSD setup?
How much money do you want to spend ?
There is not,,,, a one size fits all setup..

I like APM/Pixhawk best myself because it has more capability then anything else on the market. It also has the best ground station firmware and you can update all the parameters wirelessly. I like it because it works for everything I have, airplanes, multirotors, ground vehicles, boats and it even has antenna tracker firmware that you can load.

Also it’s open source hardware and firmware. You have choice of buying the hardware from many manufacturers and they all run the same firmware.

The simplest and probably most efficient option is the Cyclops Storm OSD, mush easier to set up and install than others and well tested by many users

I love the MFD. Only AP i've used that just works (I haven't tried vector.

I also have the MFD tracker so the MFD AP works awesome with it.

I really like my FY-41AP Lite (fixed wing only) autopilot/OSD. Easy to install and I never actually needed to hook it to a PC. Just programmed everything using the OSD display menu. RTL works very well and I also like the auto-circle mode. It has 3x regular flight modes as well (RC = no gyro assist, ABM = gyro assist with self levelling, 3D = gyro assist without self-levelling). Most others only have 2 of these.

Pretty good value for ~$140 imho.

Here's a recent flight with my fpv multiplex easystar 2. Shows the OSD and a few flight modes incl RTL;

EasyStar II FPV take 2 (4 min 19 sec)
