Suggestions on HK 3D plane

Hey guys!

I am getting back into flying and have some experience with an older e-Flight 3D plane.

I see HK has some nice, cheaper 3D models for me to practice with for outdoor, park flying. I prefer the EPP / EPO models.

I am considering these models:
Extra 330
YAK54
Galaxy
Hummer
Reaktor
Turnista

Any thoughts or suggestions on picking one of these?

Thanks!

Although you said you prefer epo/epp planes i suggest you a very nice balsa plane, "HK Slick 3D"

It is very very similar to 3DHS slick. It flies great, many people loves it and there is a forum topic more than 300 pages about this plane. It is balsa but it has proven its good flight characteristics.

Here is the hk link;

There is another version. Actually this one is the actual exact copy of 3DHS slick.

You should give a change to these planes.

As you said you're looking to park fly for practice, I suggest sticking with EPP you can hand launch. I have the Reaktor but don't like it. Wing loading is too heavy for my taste.

I have flown the Hummer and it seemed fine. Value Hobby sells the same plane and is closer to you.

The reaktor is a fantastic plane, I had no issues with wing loading.
If youre sensible with batt size & motor weight , the reaktor can be built very light & flown in a tiny area

I didnt like the hummer, many do so I guess thats just me . Its a copy of a hacker/hyperion
The Geebee may be better

or one of these, still mostly foam but much more rigid than a EPP profile plane

Not saying the Reaktor is bad. Just a bit better at a different 3D style than I prefer. Mine had lighter AUW than average but wasn't as slow/nimble as I personally like. Another pilot might call 3D planes configed the way I like "twitchy and fluttery, unable to cut through the wind" and I'd call their favorite "heavy and laggy, too fast and high energy".

No right or wrong here. Just different prefs. They're all decent planes.

Reaktor, mine is 296 gr. : twitchy, nimble, very tough.
Hummer: Versatile, precise, big for a park ?
Piaget........ Slow (2S), easy, the perfect park flier in very low winds.

Markran makes a good point. Many, myself included, are focused on the slow flight aspects of 3D. I like low wing loading and light weight. Also, don't like sitting on the side lines waiting for the wind to die down. It's hard to build stick time that way. With that in mind, my choices would be the 1100mm Yak first, followed by the Hummer. Yes, the larger EPP planes.
