Question
B50-11S/6.7-1 and CC.80

Hi Guys,
I'm thinking of putting this combo into an Ion warmliner and was wondering if this is capable of handling 100 amp bursts with a 5s pack. The pack is ready and able but I'm not sure about the cc80 or the B50.
Ron.

I am not sure about this motor. I had a hacker 9s that demagged on 16 cells and 100 amps. I think the cc80 will be fine with the 5sx100 amps (I ran that setup on my Lehner 1930/8d). Your motor I am not so sure about, that said I would run tests and see how hot the motor became. My 9s was really warm when I ran it on 16 cells at 100 amps (again with a cc80) then it demagged.

Hi Ron,

I am running a B50-11s/6.7:1 on 4s Lipo with a 18.5x12 in my E-Superior.
Used to run a B50-6s/6.7:1 on 10 IB4200's with a 17x13 no problem in my Muller Esprit. Both models require a much longer climb than your Ion would, so I think you should be OK. I have no experience with the CC80 so can not comment there.

Hey Sam,
It looks like you are drawing around 105 amps there on 4 cells. Is it getting pretty hot? I'm looking at around 100 amps on 5 cells. I'm wondering if I won't demag the motor like Jay says.
Cheers,
Ron.

The 11s on 4 lipo is not being pushed very hard (not much heat).
The 6s was being run at 150 amps and would heat up if I did too many climbs in quick succession.

I'm sure the motor's lifespan will be somewhat shortened when pushing 100 amps, but these power levels are pretty tame in comparison to what the fellows are doing at the competition field.

Depending on your battery pack, you may be pushing your cells to their limit before you find the limit of your motor.

For short burst (F5B) type runs, (eg, some 60 secs between each burst 0f less than 8 secs.) the combo you mentioned should be OK. It would be another story when using in cont run to sport planes.
I have some China made inrunner sized 36x50mm, kv=3300 (same as B50S, and FUN500 motors)matched with Kontronik gearboxes, they could get away with high current as high as 120A and 4s Conions. ESC are Hackers 125 or Jeti 77A -(That 77A cut more often for High temp, I think). I had several cc80 but they are eithered retired in my draw or given to others . because RF jams from them is heavily and had caused directly several crashes.
