Definately go for 8 cells (NiCad)

I use 8 * 2000 mAh, but :-

8 * 2400 give extra length (just) and are heavier / requiring faster flight

8 * 1700 don't quite last as long, but are lighter meaning you're not at full bore all the time.

An 8 cell pack in the UK costs about £32

Go for 8 cells but use Panasonic P2000 NiMHs.

These weigh 0.6 ounce less than 2400 cells for a total saving of 4.8 ounces. The voltage is 5-6 % down but the saving in wing loading makes up for this, and makes the model much more pleasant to fly.

Enjoy the model.

Yes, it seems that the Panasonic 2000 nimh cells are the most popular choice for this plane byfar, since 5 ounces of weight savings is nothing to sneeze at.

Many businesses that sponsor the Ezone carry the 2000 nimh packs, and our price for an 8 cell pack is $50.

8xCP1700SCR or even 8xCP1300SCR. I flew on 8x1250SCR (old cells, same weight as the new 1700's) and it was OK. On 8x1300, you'd be 4oz lighter, which is significant.
