Managed to get another flight in today. Moved the battery back a bit. Was able to lift off quicker and fly a bit slower BUT it seemed less responsive while turning. May just go back to the original setting. Also noticed after just 3 flights the wheels showing some significant wear. Might be from the rough asphalt runway or just my not so smooth landings.

We have short grass, but had to hand launch, as it wouldnt pick up enough speed on the ground.

Was a bit hairy, on the edge of stall and dropping the wings for the first 20 metres of the climb.

Had to put in a fair bit of up elevator to trim her out, maybe a bit nose heavy, but is spot on 5mm from wing line.

Also a bit of left alieron trim, as if the wing is slightly twisted, but could be the fact there was a little packing damage to the right wingtip.

Slips through the air nicely when up to speed and looks very scale, but battery got pretty hot and needs full throttle 90% of a flight ( so only 5 mins flight time ).

I think its a fly once or twice in the summer plane, as its a pain having to hand launch.

What battery are you using? I flew mine for a little over 4 minutes at 2/3 to 3/4 throttle and the battery was not too hot at the end of the flight. Put it on my battery checker and showed 39 percent of the battery capacity left.

Brand new Gens Ace 3300 3S 30C, which had 36% left after 5 mins.
Try not to go under 30% for longer service life.

Weird. I'm using a Turnigy 3S 3300 30-40c discharge pack thats about a year old and my plane flew ok.

You might put battery thru 3 or 4 charge/discharge cycles before you use it in the plane again Did you check the ESC's programming.....especially the throttle endpoints?

Just a quick update, one of the 70mm edf's is in tested and running smooth, it was a shoe horn fit, should get the second one fitted by Tuesday and a maiden-test flight Wednesday

Will the supplied motors take 4S voltage ?

I need more thrust if i am to get this off the grass, cant keep hand launching and fighting for control for 10 seconds, will end in tears.

Please check how many amps to draw from battery.

so motors will be ok on 14.4V, but the ESC are the limiting item ( 30a ? each ) if current draw is to high

Can't run 4 cells on this motor.
The same motor and esc was very successful on other PNP plane.

A pair of these will more than do the job......but you will need a quality LiPo around 4000/40C (at least)

Anybody try weighing their planes? I weighed mine and it came in at 1675 grams or 3 lbs 11.2 oz. with the battery. Mine is painted and has 2 coats of WBPU on it.
