New Product
Parrot Bebop : May the Ar Drone be with you

Hi to everyone,

Some of you may have noticed this already :
http://blogs.wsj.com/personal-techno...aerial-action/

Parrot is about to launch (well, last 2014 quarter) their new product.
Seems very interesting
But as for any other product "wich will i swear on my children head revolutionize the market, unbelivable, fantastic, wonderfull, to the moon !!!", lets be careful and take every word with a grain of salt&pepper, at least until further information

* Software stabilisation (software gimbal, such as...)

I really hope the Bebop can handle slight to moderate wind.

I had the AR Drone 2.0 before and was really disappointed that I can only fly outdoors when their is very little to no wind. I was already using the outdoor hull and the slightest wind will push the AR Drone 2.0 around like a kite.

Also hoping that the Bebop will not have an integrated motor-ESC assembly like the AR Drone. If you fry a motor or ESC before, you had to shell out USD50 for both.

On the plus side, glad they adopted a direct prop drive approach this time around.

Im a bit shocked at the camera position, the lens will take a direct hit on a front on crash.

I think the aim was to keep props out of view that is why the camera is pushed all the way to the front.

Not surprising considering what Parrot did with the AR Drone.

Its absolutely in the easiest place for best video. But the camera is the main point of this machine. Its pretty much useless if the camera is destroyed. I'm guessing there will be a few changes before manufacturing begins.

Indeed. Proprietary, hard to balance propellers. Single piece body again, so if you have a particularly bad crash you probably have to replace the entire cross like on the old AR.Drone. Vulnerable camera and so on.

At least they use direct-drive motors this time and not the geared motors like on the previous drone. I had to replace shafts and cogs all the time and it was quite noisy.

With that said, it wasn't perfect, but it got me into RC!

They should have done this 2 years ago before DJI, The just took too long to make decision until their market share gone, I mean brushless motor version.
