Control Line Slopers Flite Streak, Jr Nobler and all CL conversions

I thought this would be a good time to start a new thread on the old 70's and 80's control line slopers. Back in my high school years I did a lot of building and some of the best planes for sloping were the Flite Streak and Jr. Nobler. I built several of these planes for friends and to be honest, there was nothing on the shelf that flew better. These planes were built up light balsa and very light and highly maneuverable in light lift. These planes were always flying in most conditions. Dig through those rafters and pull down these very desirable CL kits and start building, you will not be disappointed.

Here are some pics of a scratch built Flite Streak electric and a recently completed Jr. Nobler.

Wow--beautiful job! Someone around here flew a profile CL plane (flite streak?) at Torrey Pines back in the 80's. That was back when receivers and servos were huge compared to now--great project!

Finding these kits on old hobby shop shelves has always proven to be difficult. If you ever come across these older Top Flite kits snatch them up because you have found gold.

Lots of the plans and NOS kits are for sale over on the Stuka stunt forum. I'll see if I can find the URL.

There was a guy named Ken Banks that was a local hot thumb that flew T.P. back in the late 70's. He had an orange and white flight streak that he flew fearlessly in and out of the slot. He would pack it under the tonneau cover of his MG. He also had a couple of nice original designs; the Ocotillo, and the Teradyctl. Ocotillo was a 40"-50" 2 chan light air ship with a HUGE rudder. Teradyctl was a mid-wing aerobatic sloper.

Aw hell.....now I'll be lurking in the sale forums and Ebay for these old control line kits. I need more kits like I need a few more holes in my head.

I wish it had a full fuselage, not a profile fuse. That's kind of what I'm looking for.

I have been eyeballing that profile ARF to see how much modifying is needed to covert to slope. I prefer a conventional fuse as radio gear is all internal. I wouldn't be much to build up a fuse.

One I have been thinking about is the HOB Profile Extra 300, I built one as the powered version, and starting to think about converting to slope.

Gary see what you started.
