Wow... a nice thing for me to wake up to this morning! Count me in - I'm definitely a fan of this new Beast.

For me personally, the timing couldn't be better as I'm just now getting into 3D flight with my 3DHS planes (48" Edge and 42" Slick). It will be sweet to have a the little 3D Beastie to compliment them. I can do some rough hovering with the current Beast but I've always felt that I was doing something with the plane that it just wasn't meant to do and I never really enjoyed hovering with it because it was too stressful!

I won't know how I feel about the gyro until I try it out. It sort-of feels like cheating to me but I don't think I can really develop an opinion until I fly it. It was, afterall, designed around the gyro and if I believe the marketing (call me cautiously optimistic at this point) it was designed to make the smaller plane fly much bigger than it really is. I'm guessing this will make rollers and hovers much easier. The V1 Beast is almost too twitchy to confidently pull off maneuvers like those.

I'm also wondering how it will behave in flat spins, KE spins, blenders, etc with the gyro. It would be really sweet if it could pull all of those off in a believable way as opposed to the too fast, nose down ways that it does today.

I'll definitely be buying one.

Oh - and I like the new color scheme a lot. The black spinner will take some getting used to but with the silver scheme now, the gold spinner would just look odd so I understand why they made the change.

I really like the direction they are going though. It's a great time to be in this hobby!

It would be nice if the gyros could be disabled... move the CG back up and fly the "old" Beast if you want.

WOW ... been going back and forth for either a Stryker Q or Slash 4x4 for Christmas ... but this will be it.

I LOVED my old Beast and regretted selling it the instance I mailed it off. Than when I saw they were down to $99 I was like HELL yes, but held off on the purchase. Than rumor came out that they were discontinuing the UMX beast and I was sooooo sad.

Now this makes me happy, I need a prop hanging micro that I can try and fly outside in the small parks Seattle provides, this looks like it might be the one!

I think they've already said that they won't be able to be disabled. I think Dave mentioned this somewhere.

He did, very specifically.

Yeah you can't disable it. They didn't intend to either....they want it to "enhance" the experience.

If you want to fly with the gyro disabled, fly the first-generation UMX Beast!

I for one am looking forward to this. UM planes are already limited by wind, and anything that lets me fly the beast more often is a good thing.

+1 for remote gyro disable... I don't have an old beast.

I'm so getting one!! I love my UMX Beast but after watching the vid and seeing this Beast 3D in a hover, my eyes about popped out!! I want, I want, I will have!

No! Price is already up @ HH... $139 for the new Beast in Basic configuration.
