The 250 grams or less flight weight foamie kit thread

The threshold requiring R/C pilot registration in the U.S. is the outdoor, remotely controlled operation of anything that flies that is over 250 grams in mass.

Please add 250g and below flight weight OUTDOOR fixed wing foamie aircraft to this thread if you know of others not included in the list found immediately below. Aircraft must be available in the U.S. or via very cheap shipping from elsewhere, such as China.

Confirm your chosen aircraft's actual flight weight before ordering it because some weight claims may not be correct.:

I'm thinking about building the Mini skywalker. I'm not concerned about the FAA ruling but I want to stay under 250g because I fly at some smaller fields.

I suggest the Magnum Reloaded. Easy to build below 250g.

http://www.miniprop.com/flugmodelle/...-reloaded-2014

EDIT: it's available from WMParkflyers in the US.

http://www.wmparkflyers.com/acro-mag...low-p-231.html

Needs just a puddle to to fly from, although adding the floats might push weight over the limit

Magnum Reloaded Miniprop on floats, schwimmerbausatz! (1 min 33 sec)

I'm surprised I don't see Mountain Models listed here. Brian has many extreme lightweight kits on his site. My Tom-E-Boy 150 weighs 128 grams minus battery and she was built with absolutely no weight saving practices and I'm not using the expensive "brick" systems in this particular bird. Flies fantastic on dirt cheap servos and RX!

Well, this is a foamie thread because that's what most people want these days and those are balsa and MonoKote.

However, there might be a minor resurgence in the latter type since I believe you can get more wingspan for a given mass with, for instance, a flying wing using that technique than with foam. I'd personally love to see a 250g all up flight weight flying wing kit using laser cut balsa ribs, a lightweight carbon fiber tube spar, covered with MonoKote.

The hobbyking bonsai is about 175g with 16g motor
The Hacker "Strega mini 550" is 110g with 10g motor and 300ma 2s
the other aircraft of the 550 series are similar weight.

Oops! Didn't pay attention. I saw the thread off to the side on the main page and didn't consider it was foamie. Sorry 'bought dat.

Going with brokendiff's post though I have been migrating to the smaller UMX planes since the new FAA B.S. started. I have the T-28, the Pitts and the Habu EDF with the Carbon Cub on the way. These UMX planes fly 10 times bigger than they are. Rock stable and a ton of fun in the air. You can fly them just about anywhere. I will have access to a gym soon and may start some indoor flying. Can't believe I'm actually flying anything foam after being a balsa snob for so many years.

Thanks. I don't how I missed the HK Bonsai in my search of HK's site. On the others, since this 250 gram thing is exclusive to the US, I prefer US-available aircraft or ones from elsewhere with cheap or free shipping, like from China. From what I've seen of shipping rates mentioned here from Australia and the EU, they are expensive.
