the speedo has an rg15 aerofoil, as I recall.

I would say it is not a speedo, it looks subtly different to me.

Crazy aerofoil? It is a Norbert Habe aerofoil (HN).

If it is, they scored big time with whomever they got to make up their models names.

Maybe if the Chinese start to rip off each other they'll realise how much it sucks to be stolen from. Who knows they might even stop doing it after a few years.

I could easily imagine a scenario where Speedo's are made by a factory (possibly not R2 themselves). HK then approach the same factory, and say, why don't we make something using the basic fuselage and planform, but change the back to a V-tail, and make us wings with a different airfoil. If that's what happened, I wouldn't call that copying, I would call it what happens with glider designers the world over... The end result is not a Speedo, but not hugely unlike one. It will fly differently, it has rudder for a start, and a different foil.

Have you cast an eye over F3X plane designs lately? They all look the same at a distance, but they aren't: the differences are in the details, particularly the airfoils... No-one claims anyone is copying anyone else (well, not a lot, anyway )...

Tbh I'm surprised there aren't more models like the speedo.
It's low drag, lightweight, aerobatic design is a classic efficient design. It will do many things many other planes won't do.

Try and find another plane that'll do what the speedo will do for the price.

Maybe this is it? If only it was a bit tougher it's be perfect.

the vtail angle looks a bit wide on first glance.
Not sure I would want to pay the extra over a speedo (aka world's best model ).
That being said if it was stiffer and you could fit a ballast tube in the fuse it would be cool.
Might be nice if the canopy fitted the fuselage properly as well.....

I think the answer to your question is all over the "Speedo Thermo" thread and its 1974 posts in the past 5years.
Sometimes the answer is right under our nose but we don't see it. And sometimes we prefer to lie to ourselves.

Lol Veedo... I like it...

Shouldn't be that hard to put two servo's in there - people do it with normal Speedo's when they add a Rudder to it's conventional tail...

Still works out more expensive than an original speedo though?

V-tail on a speedo not such a bad idea. But that color scheme is absolutely shocking
