Ircha 2014

Here are a number of pictures from IRCHA this year. I was able to place 2nd against some very good flying and managed to keep my helicopter in one piece despite the very high winds we flew in. I will be returning there next year and will also include the US Nationals as part of the trip. Take care.

Thanks guys. Gyro, I bet you meant heli and it is the 500MD TOW Defender in pictures 8 and 16. There are some videos on YouTube posted by Jon Simich, who was there taking video of the scale events for another forum. The Jet Ranger with the Bambi Bucket drawing water from the Pumpkin is also mine. Take care.

Thanks guys. I had a great time being there and next year, the addition of going to the Nationals will really be the icing on the cake. Take care.

Hi Don,

It was great meeting you at last. I really enjoyed looking your heli fleet over in person. Those are some great machines that really benefit from the added detail.

Thanks for the pics, and congrats on your 2nd place showing in the scale competition. The winds were challenging, and you did a great job of coping.

Thanks also for spotting for me on the Huskie flights. At a time like that, it's good to have someone around to calm the nerves. I'll look forward to seeing you again next year.

It was a pleasure meeting you and you bet, I will be there next year and hopefully with a bit more prep work done for both contests. Spotting is no biggy and it was fun to watch out and observe for someone with a very unusual model. The wobbling was not something I have had to deal with in any of my conventional helicopters but in retrospect, could it be that a majority of the weight is in the middle and there is very little front and back in comparison? In a sense, it also resembles having too much gain on the elevator, kind of like porpoising that I have had with dampeners that were too hard or sometimes like when a bit more gain was needed. Yours seemed to get worse as time progressed and in the cases I have sorted, they stayed fairly docile and were more of a visual distraction as opposed to something that could cause a crash. Hope you have it there next year. Take care.

Next year, you're going to have to introduce yourself and stick around a bit longer, lol. See you then.

Thank's worst thing is no one took any video of me Flying my Airwolf, but they did take a video of my first flight of the year at IRCHA to loosen up after a lot of coffee The wind out of the west didn't help

Slow flight of the Logo/KDS at IRCHA 14 in the wind (3 min 17 sec)

It took me a second to see that you flew that at the area beside the HeliFreak encampment. I thought that area was more for small helicopters, like 450's or smaller, lol. There's some pretty big heli's flying there. Take care.
