I'm having issues with the mini that i just got from lazertoyz. Seems like the servos aren't moving the flaps as much as they should. I bought the kit from them and the servos are the 5 gram tower pro SG-50.

What's the proper movement for the flaps? And are those servos strong enough?

I think we worked this out- they were the right servos , we called and got it going for him - let us know how you like it Will.
you can always add more throw on the DX6,

I hope you don't think I meant anything by saying where I got it from... I've thought you and Dan have done an awesome job helping me and are super friendly.

I've added all the throw I can with the dx6i though and still only getting about a 1/4 inch movement.

No problem at al for the name mention- hmm still not enough throw? I will have Dan call you back about 5pm our time in Ohio and lets see if he has another solution.

Are your control rods at the outer most holes in the servo arms? If you suspect your throws are too low, you may also want to move the control rods in toward the base on the control surfaces.

Also remember, the faster you go, generally the smaller control surface throws need to be. Some people think you have to have these massive throws when thats not the case at all. Unless your doing 3D or wild acrobatics, keep the throws at the "sport' level.

I have mine setup at the outer most holes of both the servos and the control horns and it flies fine. In fact, I have it toned down a little (from the transmitter). COuld your reduced throws be a result of your radio settings? If you could post a pic that would go a long way to offer advice.

Dont give up. This is an awesome plane thats a blast to fly. I shared mine today with a fellow flyer that never flew a wing before. He did very well but the landing was a little rough (it got behind him/overhead). The plane litterally bounced after impact, no damage.

Oh, also, if you are local to Cleveland, OH, I will be down at Edgewater Park tomorrow around 2pm if you need a hand! Theres a small group of us that fly. C'mon down if you can!

I agree with Carnifax about the throws. I flew my larger wing yesterday and noticed that I am using very little stick movement for all the crazy stuff I tried.

Man...I got to get the right batteries for this thing!!!

I found out what the problem was... The settings on the dx6i are restricted and the radio wasn't allowing full throw even with the 125% travel. I had to go into mix1 and mix2 and force the radio to let me have more throw.

I got it to give me much better throws and managed to get the wing stuck in a tree. LOL It's a banshee once you get it working... I'm going to have to turn down the speed on me for flying around the house. I only have a couple acres with lots of crap to dodge....

For the big/fullsize popeing, is the CG measured from the tip of the nose back 200-212mm?

Yes.

I started at 210mm but have since moved mine back another 5-10mm and it flys perfectly...

Great thanks. Hopefully maiden mine tomorrow if all goes as planned. They certainly are tail heavy it seems. CG is close with a 1550 pack but still on the tail side a bit.

You'll be fine with a 1550mah 3s pack.

What prop do you have? Stock motor?

If you go ahead and add some "up" reflex (both control surfaces up about 1/8 - 1/4" from level) your maiden will go much better.

I forgot to do that (had my control surfaces level at neutral stick) and mine almost hit the dirt on launch till I added "up" via the trim.

I fly mine with anything from 1300mah to 2200mah in the stock location and it flys great...
