Alien Aircraft Gadjet Kit Bashing
I am in the process of building a modified Alien Aircraft Gadget Biplane. These are my planned changes:
1. Removable hatch forward of the windshield for quick access for battery
2. Addition of upper wing ailerons. Use of two HXT500 microservos in the
wing to keep weight down.
3. Use of Turnigy 2210C-1200 outrunner motor instead of HiMax HC2212-
The plans call for an all-up weight of 9 ounces to give a wing loading of 5.5
ounces/square foot. My model with all flight gear installed and covered with
transparent red monoKote less the two wings already weighs in at 9
ounces. I estimate that the two wings with servos and aileron linkages will
add at least 2 or 3 more ounces making a total weight of 11 to 12 ounces.
Would welcome any comments regarding the flight performance of this model
at 11 to 12 ounce flying weight.

hmmm... this is a substantial incxrease over the recommended weight... like 30% so it's gonna mean a significantly higher stall speed
where did all the extra weight come from? is there any way to remove it?
basically on such a small craft, the lighter the better... of course a lighter plane represents much lower kinetic energy too, so that if you do happen to have an unplanned landing, there is much less force involved ... feathers don't really ever "crash"... they just settle
