DX9 wireless buddy and heli - not working - NOW SOLVED
Ok, so set everything up as per instructions:
- DX9 bound and setup on heli
- DX8 in new model memory
- DX8 bound to DX9
- DX9 in wireless 'Pilot Link Master' mode - all channels available to trainer - master override on
- DX9 switches in an out of trainer mode correctly giving and taking control from DX8.
.... the DX8 does not control the CCPM correctly (mixing is incorrect and erratic) anyone else having this problem? What am I missing?
Oh and it also doesn't work properly in WIRED mode ...
I have downloaded the latest firmware (the DX9 bugged me about registering my DX9) could this be the problem?
FYI, I have tried changing swash type and swash mix just in case, but this hasn't cured and should not be necessary anyway as in 'Pilot Link Master' the slave TX should essentially just be a pair of 'dumb sticks'.

After hours of fiddling and scratching my head, I have finally resolved my issue.
I can't fully explain why, but to get the CCPM heli trainee side to work correctly, you actually have the PITCH (PIT) control set to be MASTER - not SLAVE as one might expect. All the other controls (THR, AIL, ELE, RUD etc.) can be set to SLAVE.
I still don't know why it is like this, it is not intuitive; I can only think it is something to do with throttle and pitch being mixed on a heli and the monkey that coded it messed this bit up? It certainly isn't in the Spektrum user manual.
Hope this helps someone,
