Time for me to check in again to add my congratulations David.
Well done!

I only wonder if a little rudder mixed in with the ailerons would keep the nose from getting that little bit high in the turns?
I always have about 5% mixed in to save me having to add it manually - being a lazy pilot!

Nicely flown anyway!
Robin

Well done David, I could see the grin from the back of your head! The change in rigging angle and your growing confidence in slowing the model up mean that you can set it down on the step, eliminating the bounce. And yes, when the water is that flat, they do all tend to alight with a bit of a slap.

All

My old Sunderland gets a very complimentary feature article in the April 2015 RCME by Alex Whittaker..
He really has done the model proud and explains the thinking behind it

Very kind praise indeed.. Thank you Alex

Yup, I read that. An excellent write up indeed - and very well deserved.

Well....
There I was looking in vain for five lengths of that very elusive 10 swg piano wire in my local hobby store in Bolton for my next nearly complete scratch build...
And I caught a glimpse of a Sunderland flying boat on a magazine cover next to the piano wire storage facility... I didn't recognise my own model
I thought....
That looks a bit like my Sunderland....

The photo on the cover is superb and made the plane look better than my Sunderland!
I know the exact spot where the photo was taken on the lake, it is just as the model comes out of the shadow of the club house directly behind the pits into the light of the morning rising sun behind us... Models just "light up" as you make the low pass right to left

And a very nice article about my Sunderland too

Thanks
David

Hey David, what's the wingloading on your plane? It looks like it flies really "light"!
