Is there a decent EDF fan someone can recommend that flies well (not anemic) on 6S, but will accept 8S for ballistic speeds?

Maybe a HK unit to save on my costs??

I dont mind using the stock fan also, unless there is a good reason not to. In this case I hope for a motor recommendation.

I wouldn't go that route unless you have $$$$ lipos that can handle the amp jump from 6s onto 8s.

So many others not too in this jet - lack of space for lipos, dealing with higher wing load, lower flight times, extra cost for 8s capable ESC.

actually I have 4s lipos which should easily handle the current draw for an 8s series configuration. I don't own any 6s packs, and my 3s packs probably won't cut the amp draw.

I was thinking of this fan:

anyone know if it will fit?

Get the 8s version if you want to run 8s.
Any fan that is designed to handle 8s will be eniemic on 6s. If a fan is optimized for 6s, it will not last running 8s.

I'm not familiar with the "stock" fan for this jet. The motor you mentioned is quite large at 40mm diameter which doesn't fit many shrouds. You would have to measure it.

It seems I need to relocate my ESC which was originally in the canopy area (yeah, bad idea). Anybody cut the intake duct and expose the ESC there? There's also an area in the nose but air doesn't flow in and out of there. I know the ideal location is behind the motor. Hoping for a "cheap and lazy man's" relocation

A brute force method would be to expose the ESC by cutting the rear canopy, but it's visually ugly.

Castle Edge 100A. It's rather large for this jet!

It's about time I get around to finishing the build.
is there a relative consensus on the better EDF to use on this guy?
I won't limit myself to one vendor, as I previously posted.
I'd prefer an 8S-capable fan with low blade count. I'd rather not trade thrust for sound.
That being said, I don't need ballistic thrust - maybe somewhere around 2500g or so.

Thanks in advance.

Iv been running mine for this season on a yep 150a esc , the standard (Chang sun) fan unit, and a hobbyking warhead 1850kv motor..cheap and cheerful but it gets off grass no sweat..
For a hop up and to run on 8s you could use the fan what came with the kit or even better get a wemotec midi pro fan.
