Leadfeather's EPP Yak 55

In case some of you have not see what Leadfeather has been doing over in the scratch built forum here is a link to some of his very successful designs.
Yak 55
Firefly
PBF

The reason that I am posting here is that I am working with him to bring his designs to those who are not interested in building from scratch. I have an order of foam coming so I can start supplying kits but in the mean time I have put together several Yak 55 kits with what foam that I have. If things take off I will set up a web site to make ordering easier.

The Yak is a very capable indoor aerobatic flyer. The wingspan is 34" and the average weight with out battery is 150 grams (5.4 oz) The kits that I have now are the skinny version which is made from 1.3 lb EPP in 6mm and 9mm thicknesses. These are short kits including the cut foam pieces and a carbon wing spar. Complete kits may be offered later but these are a perfect replacement for a battered airframe using similar components. I can also supply custom air brushed kits.

The unpainted short kit is $25 + $10 shipping.
The airbrushed short kit is $35 + $10 shipping.

Ordering can be done HERE
Here is a build guide

Well quite a bit has happened sense I first posted this thread. I have come up with a supply of 1.0lb density EPP. Right now I am the only one carrying it. Using this lighter foam we are making what was dubbed a "Fluffy Yak" build and we are getting flying weights of 135 g AUW (4.8oz). These fly totally different and are getting into the F3p performance realm.
I also have put together a short construction video showing how easy this kit goes together. I will be posting it as soon as I get it downloaded.
Most of our local flyers have completely switched from depron to this EPP yak. If flys that good and is not fragile.

Where did you get 1lb EPP?
Is bulk or sheet?
Thanks, Butch

I am buying it bulk and cutting it down into sheet. The problem is that it is hard to get foam that has the proper stiffness. My last order I had to reject because it had half the stiffness of what we have been using.

I put together a short construction video on the way I build the Yak kit. It is not comprehensive but I think it covers the basics. After watching it I see that I could have added more info but it was unscripted so it is what it is. I hope it helps someone.

I got Jamie wanting a 55, but he doesn't have time to cut it. You still offering these? He will need a standard kit. IF you sell him one, i am sure it will get mentioned even more on ATTF

the 1.0 epp is really light weight, yet stiff enough that i only needed one piece of carbon on the main wing.... thanks again...
