Backyard Flyer Design

To all you backyard flyers, I'm looking to build a small airplane that is no more than a 18" wingspan to fly in my backyard. I will scratch build this airplane from balsa. Do yinz know of any good flying designs. I want something that flies realistcally.

Mike

I notice a lot of indoor or lighter slow flying airplanes tend to stall often, kind of making a "u" flight path. I guess what I want is something that will fly just as the real version would.

A bit bigger than you stated but IMO too many i8" models tend to fly hanging on their props.. Not very endearing

Assemble it then Enjoy..
yer Welcome:-)

About a square acre... You said perfectly what I was trying to say before Bare, I don't want my airplane to seem to hang by its prop when flying. That's a very nice piper cub kit... Looks like it flies perfectly!

All of those 'prop' hanging planes under 40" wingspans that I can think of can be flying on the wing in that much space, and when you get to 32" and less they can be pretty comfortable in that space.
