Proof is on the pudding. Would love to see if someone could feel any difference. Shame Rhys doesn't frequent here much anymore. Would like to hear his thoughts from when he made them

The CNC cut new Scratcho wing mould with curvy tips is off the router bed and I'm just gluing in the alignment dowel tubes. Next step will be to sand and polish. Can't quite believe I could be close to making a first new-generation Scratcho wing!

Geoff is working on drawing up the fuselage too, to start work towards CNC cut moulds with a nice wing and stab alignment.

Really thankful to Geoff - he's doing a really great job of drawing up the Scratcho fuz mould in Rhino.

I'm trying to keep the original Scratcho look, but with some refinements, aimed at keeping it as an all round fun machine, but perhaps just a bit faster for DS! (naturally ...)

I need to acknowledge that Will Deighton has done lots of work on this too, some of which I never used as I changed tack repeatedly - sorry Will!

1) Curved tips on stab and fin to match the look of the wing. (Wing has curved tips and has a 40mm overall longer span).
2) Slight reduction in span of stab and fin
3) Slight reduction in chord of fin
4) Shorten boom by just 5mm.
5) Otherwise fuse remains very much the same shape.

Pics of the finished moulds, while the alignment dowel tubes are gluing ... no sanding or polishing done yet.

Looking really good, Andrew. What ply did you use on the backing?

Alex, it's just pine ply - the cheap stuff. But it's also laminated with thick layers of glass between each ply layer and on the bottom. Each layer of glass is one of 300 gsm square laid and one of 300 on the bias. Hugely, hugely stiff.
