Veron Cardinals

Here are a pair of Veron Cardinals that my friend and I built recently from plans on the Outerzone. Mine is the blue, gold and white model with the DC Dart diesel engine in the nose, my friend's is the orange and white electric powered model. Both have flown and flown well, mine required no trimming and on its first powered flight it flew about two miles, I'm not much of a runner but I surprised myself - It seems that if there's enough motivation, I can still run if I have to!

Thanks Gossie and I agree, a dethermaliser would have been very good to have. To be honest I wasn't expecting it to fly so well without any trimming but I can at least look back and laugh at how I must have looked, running, sweating and quietly muttering at a distant dot in the sky,

"stop, for the love of god, just bloody stop!"

Nice models Pete.

Only miles? Maybe if you had read about Mr Willey's flight in this Veron ad in the September 1956 Aeromodeller you WOULD have fitted a D/T!

My electric Cardinal is a long time favourite, but (ssshhh!) I don't have to chase it as it has RET radio! I'm too old for that running business now.
