new kit!

My new kit arrived yesterday!
Just flew 2 maidens and all went perfect

As I mentioned some posts earlier, I made some modifications to make it last longer, as you can see on the photos.

I'm still thinking of a color scheme but for now I just used some tape for visibility in the grey/white Belgian sky

Also put some pics of my first PJ, as the damage and weak points might help others to make theirs last longer.

CG is about 1cm in front of finger holes.
Does if fly OK? Causу I have my CG in the front end of finger holes, and it is a bit nose heavy.

Agree with you sasha.

Furthermore. If CG is fwd you will fly with increased drag due to up deflection of the surfaces.
Fwd CG also increases Vb and Vm.
Move your CG back and you will probably get a bit more speed.

For me it works perfectly right now.
First I also put it on the front end of the finger holes but it was a bit tailheavy that way so that's why I changed it.

I'm flying on 200W so maybe if yours is slower it might fly better with the CG a little further back

I really want to get one of these for my dad, but he is used to gliders and powered planes with poly-hedral wings with only elevator rudder...
He wants to learn ailerons, but needs something to learn on that doesn't cost "an arm and a leg". I already have a Skyfun (now a little beatup) and he often says how nice it would be to learn ailerons on, so i know he's not worried about the design (this airframe being the same as the Skyfun but smaller and made of EPO).

I'm wondering if someone can suggest a super light; battery, motor and prop combination from HK that will give docile flight and hopefully lower likely-hood of crash damage.
i'm wondering if gws 6x4, or 7x3 would be too much on a cheaper 2cell or something. (thrust only needs to be 3/4:1 roughly - enough for a decent/easy hand launch)

i think the parkjet II in its stock form, using 2s would fit your Dad's requirements.
Only exception is you'll want to replace stock motor mount with a HK stick mount. you can see it in the pictures at the top of this page.
the crappy stock servos arent a bad idea to replace as well.
buy an extra kit for $15 while you're at it in case the inevitable happens

I don't see this as a good plane to learn anything on.
Although I haven't flown it under low power yet.
High power (325w) is a bear to fly, for me anyway.
After a couple of nose-ins it just wouldn't fly anymore.
I hope I'm wrong and it flies good slower.
I'm building my low power PJ2 now.

Build a Stryker C for him from parts.
Freakin awesome plane. Very tough.
See the Lite Stryker thread...
The thing can be slow and floaty or lightning fast, your choice and easily done.

Good Luck finding a bare fuz, Modelflight haven't had stock for 18 months or more. They want you to buy the pnp version, so you spend even more money.

Hello!

I'am using on my parkjet the turnigy 2632 3400kv on 3s. The speed is about 100 mph and it also can do very fast vertical. I made a video with some pictures of the assembly and some footage of some high speed passages. Hope you enjoy it:

Cheers!

Here in the states we can get every piece of the airframe minus electronics for $60.
Can you get reasonable shipping from HorizonHobbies?
The other good source I use is WholesaleTrains.
