If you use a helical on your vrx don't you have to use a circular Polarized antenna on the quad?

Paired linear to circular means "just" a 3 dB loss then.

So it will work with a helical and stock on the quad? :-D that wold be great it's much easier to change antenna on the radio and you don't get extra whigt on the quad.

3dB loss means cutting the signal strength in half .... so do your math.

BTW, a decent clover isn't that heavy - barely a gram.:

Of course you won't get them in shops. Or at least non one of available ones come any close to well built DIY antennas like in the picture.
In my case the video range is MUCH more than my (unamplified, btw ) control range.

@bogieboy, is that a 1.3 gig setup, and how much power do think you'll need to put into the antenna to cross 15 KM?

You should also upgrade the vtx side when possible to see the overall benefits. I have been using a 5 turn helical with a cheap dipole which worked great but upgrade to a light CL and you will see even more benefits.

you can see two antennas there. would one be the telemetry receive antenna?
If so, is the small 4 device with 4 pins likely to be a receive pre amp or a transmit power amp?
