AERONAUT Classic motor!

HEY all,

Im building a Aeronaut Classic but I don't know which motor I will use, any suggestions?
I want it to be from Hobbyking and brushless and last but not least I want it to be powerful enough.

Hi Bas,

'Powerful enough' is relative, if you want the boat to run at scale speed like this:
Aeronaut Classic-Ein Abend am See (2 min 32 sec)

This is sufficient:
Roxxy BL 3529-20
Roxxy BL Control 930
Graupner 2318.37,5k prop
2S Lipo
HK will have an equivalent motor and ESC, just compare the roxxy data.

Regards, Jan.

Hey,

Thank you, but what if I want it to have just a little more?
Not that I will go full speed but I want it to have that power.

Bas

Hi Bas,

That's a matter of calculus; 7,4V x 1500Kv = 11100 rpm unloaded, which is about 9000 rpm under load.

If you want to go faster, either take a bigger prop (if the motor can turn it), keep the prop and go for a 1600Kv, or 1800Kv motor with slightly more Watt, or both.

(This motor is way overkill and will turn a 40 - 42 twoblade, high pitch prop that will overturn the boat when full throttle is applied from a standstill.)

Another option is to go to 3S and select a lower Kv motor with sufficient power to tuern a bigger prop more efficiently (higher Voltage equals lower Ampdraw).
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...50Kv_600W.html
Still overkill, but easier on the Ampdraw.

To get an idea what overkill will do to a 110 cm boat, check out 800Kv on 4S on a 58 mm prop:
Short sprint Zwette 28 4 2014 (1 min 44 sec)

Not something a Classic hull was designed for!

Regards, Jan.
