Light F3P motor to Spin an 11" prop

Hey guys, I have been researching many f3p planes, and many of them seem to be swinging 11" props. So my question is what the KV I need to be looking for to spin an 11 inch prop on 2S. I ideally I would love to find a motor that weighs 12-13 grams.

The advantage of the 11" prop is the downline breaking, however running a single prop, the size of the spinning disk has to create lots of torque, so I have to assume the pitch of the prop is very flat. Maybe a 11x2'ish

The information is not very forthcoming, nothing new in the world of F3P. Never less, I am hoping some of those of you who know and use this level of gear can help me find some information.

So far I have only fond one motor that guts the bill, but communication has been somewhat of a challenge.

Thanks for your time, AKf

Look at Glavak motors...they are top notch and designed for the 11in props.

Idk if you've noticed yet, but F3P is much more expensive than you'd think it would be.

I tried to speak to him via email, but we seemed to have a communication barrier. I would, live one if his motors and props. Trying to figure out exact motor, prop, and price in US dollars shipped to me in Vegas seems like an almost impossible task. Three emails asking thus information and still do not have a clue.

Glavak has the info you are looking for in his latest price list. It can be found on line relatively easily. Here's an extract of the list:

-----------------------------------------------------
Configuration motor SG 04 28 0.32 + SG 11x3.3
Normal motor especially designed for big propellers. The motor has a RPM/V value of 1200 1/min.
-> better brake performance, better constant speed and better efficiency
Test configuration:
- 120mAh GensAce
- SG 11x3.3 prop, 100g model
- voltage of 7,3V ,
- 3,8A at maximum power
- no limited gas curve
- for planes up to 100g
- flight time 4 minutes and 40 seconds
-----------------------------------------------------

I'm sure Glavak ships overseas as well but he may be busy right now as there's a big F3P competition this weekend in Germany.

Edit: Here's the web site (under construction but the price list is there): http://www.glavak-rc.de/

I've found Glavak pretty easy to work with, and shipping from Germany is pretty quick - ~2 weeks. As Finn listed.....you can find the motor price at 98, prop at 24, and shipping is going to be about 12. Assuming you pay with paypal.....add about 2%.....and the exchange rate is about 1.3....so give or take 134x1.02x1.3 = USD 177.68. Exact amount of course to be determined by Glavak, exchange rate, paypal money exchange rate, etc.

Regards,

Dave

Glavak is easy to deal with.

He usually sends a price list, then you ask for and get a quote.
Paypal the funds and you get your stuff pretty soon after.
He has always answered my questions promptly.
