Help!
another pw-51 question

I am thinking of build 1.6 - 1.8 meter plank ......
the shape of the plank is like "Woowings Booby".
I am looking for a fast airfoil and i choose to use pw-51, but before i start building this project i have to ask the experts about the compatibility of this airfoil with a multi panel wing of this size.....

thanks for your answers

What do you want the plank to do? go fast use the PW98, acro PW51.
Have to see picks or a build thread.

CG calculations.

It sounds like a good project. The PW51 will be fine I would guess.
It will be an interesting exercise calculating the CG position. I expect it could be done by working it out for the separate panels first, then calculating the respective moments of each one proportional to the wing area of each panel.
Have you thought of another method? I would like to read about it if you have.
My experience with planks of simple plan form shows that if the optimum CG position is calculated, measured and set on the bench, this can result in a "pain free" maiden flight. 22% MAC for this airfoil is optimum in my experience and also what Peter Wick suggests.

Jim.
