So, I just got my Rustler VXL (brand new) and I noticed that when I hardly press the throttle (forward or reverse) the car shakes and doesn't want to move. If I press it more than everything is OK. It moves forward and backwards fast and nice. But if I want a really slow start the car will shake until I press the throttle enough so the car will start. On a stand thing look different because the wheels turn at the light throttle.

I suppose it has something to do with the weight of the car and the differential but is this normal? Do I need to make adjustments?

- NiMh with LVC off
- battery is charged
- did not make any modifications to it
- didn't opened the transmission and motor box

i think what you are experiencing is a non sensored brushless system that is rough on the start

After some research, and a phone call to Traxxas I found out that it is normal. I'll see what happens when I get a LiPo. Anyway, this truck rocks!!! Lots of fun.

Yeah don't worry about it.

It is normal for a non sensored motor to "cog" at extreamly low throttle inputs.
Cars, airplanes, helicopter all do it. Basically the ESC does not know where in the rotation the motor is so it doesn't not quite know the phase of the pulse to send to it.

Ask yourself this though: When would you ever use that throttle setting anyway?

Get that thing in the dirt and burn some knobbies off!

yep. motor cogging. Pretty common for a sensorless brushless system.

If it's an issue you can switch to a smaller pinion or larger spur gear to make it a little better, but it really shouldn't be a problem in a rustler.

I don't think it's good personally, but it's not an issue unless your running a crawler.
