Razor 400 and 10t Pinion is Good!

Swallowed my whatever and wired it up tonight. The 400 on 2s lipos draws 5amp with direct drive tail, 15minutes of air time and hovers at half throttle. Mucho power compared to speed 300 setup.
HOwever, do not try to program a pheonix esc with ADD or after a beer. Man I thought the bloody phone would never stop ringing, or the interuptions while I tried to program the brake out and work through the blinking lights and tone. shades of Simon!
It really is not an intuitive process.
On the other hand, the battery pack after 15 minutes was at 120 and the motor 105. lBarely pushing it. Had to stay on the throttle more to stay out of theceiling.
Thanks for all the advice.

Sorry

IN my enthusiasim and can of celebratory beer I failed to mention I fly(hover only tail in) a Hummingbird. The numbers are temperatures in farenheit. Guess the universal thing woudl have been to say the battery is cooler asd the motor as well than the speed 300 setup and 10t pinionn
My apologies to those using the metirc system. Some units I just can't conceptualize metrically like temps.

Stuka-

I've got a RZ400 with a GWS "C" pinion on it (I don't know how many teeth are on a C pinion). Do the GWS EPS 300 pinion gears mesh well with the HB main gear? If so I might be try your combo. Would the RZ400 be too much for the stock geared tail motor, or do you have to run the direct drive tail motor?

Thanks

Sweet.. That's good news.. I guess a 350 in this thing would go ZOOOOM.. Sure wish I could find a V2 Heli motor though..

Tram, I'd bet that the Himax 2015 4200 would work well in the place of a RazorV2. Sure the Himax is hard to find right now, but it should be readily available in about 10 days.

Once Again Science Triumphs over Ignorance and Superstition!

THe GWS c gear pinion is 12 tooth which would work, but ups the amp load to edge and beyond for 1200 etech, i.e. 8 amps +
The ten tooth comes with a motor in the D gearbox, ile 10 tooth.
The pinions mesh well, or seem to in my lmiited experience. I had to ca my pinion on, but it flew over thirty minutes woihtou loosing it jsut after gluing it to th eshaft with the help of ca accelerator.
At five amps max this is a perfect power/load comobiantion im my mind, what little is left after 56 years.
Almost forgot, my lipo's are 2s.

Jim-

Sweet- it won't be until after christmas that I will be needing the motor.. I am on a "restricted" budget until after christmas, that is when I will buy my heli.

aplphabandaid-

So, are you saying a D pinion would work better? To use a brushless setup will i need a new pinion or spur gear?

I am clueless to all this microheli..
