I almost finished my Alfa F-86, my first build and my first EDF at all. I fly an electric Heli but flew airplanes some years ago. My goal is to make this foamy as "scalish" as possible. Maybe I should have been bought the scale nose that airsally sells. But it was too late. Maybe the next one will have this. :-)

For the finish I chose the aircraft from air ace Erich Hartmann of JG71 "Richthofen" of the German Luftwaffe.
For the (about 100?) stencils I used customized decals from www.tailormadedecals.com (excellent service btw!). It took three evenings to apply them. The black tulips are made from printed foil. It was a fiddling thing to create a fitting corel draw file for them.
I added the droptanks (without wheels), navigationlights, made the rudder steerable and used 2 servos in the wings for aileron.
I used acrylic paint for the finish.

Motor is a Mega 16/7/4 in an Alfa 60/25 with 3S 1800mAh. AUW will be @ 640g (22.5oz). Quite heavy, I know :-).
RC is Spektrum (receiver AR6200)

What's left to do is the finish with a matt cote, doing all the rivets and panel lines as well as some weathering. Hope you enjoy it.

what a beautiful job, if it were me, id just hang it from the ceiling and admire it.

the choice of paint scheme was a great decision, and your attention to detail is great.

now if you will excuse me, im going to go hide my alfa sabre in the back of my closet.

You win. I give up. From now on I am painting my planes all white with black and red spray paint blotches, now that i have seen this. I've always thought Luftwaffe F-86s were the coolest looking ones.

Holy CRAP! That thing looks AWESOME! I agree, I'd just hang it up and admire it; I'd NEVER dare to fly that thing; but then that tells you something about my flying skills level as well!

I finished the rivets on the underside of the wing.

Rivets are almost done.

Man if I was gonna detail an F-86, it would definentaly be an EJF 90mm F-86, very scale and has actual landing gear. http://www.ejf.com/index.php?main_pa...roducts_id=198
