FW 190 printed warbird NOW with Maiden VIDEO

FW 190 printed War bird Maiden VIDEO

http://www.youtube.com/user/31tudor

Hi, I'm Scott.

I am a newbie to the foam scene but I have been flying and building models for 30+ years. I found the printed warbird thread, and decided to build the beautiful FW 190 on page:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...724566&page=80

I couldn't have gotten this far with out Chris K., he sized and tiled the files for my printer. Thanks again Chris K.

I hope to power my FW 190 with a 400xt out runner and a Castle Creations Phoenix 10 esc with a 20c 900mah 3s li po. The motor is good for a 11" prop, but I will use a 10-5 prop, so I hope it is enough.

Hi Scott, looking forward to the build. The Fw-190 is one of my favorite WWII fighters, especially the Dora models. Good luck!

In search of modeling sh*t

Thanks Spitfire222. The Fw 190 is my favorite axis fighter.

OK, I didn't really look around yet for the other stuff needed to build the plane. So.... I need: Carbon tubes/rods, thin plywood, balsa, glue, more tape, (I love tape) , hardware, tools, etc.

I still haven't set up shop proper , so I am using a temporary table.

Now dear readers, as you ponder my actions tonight upstairs digging through my modeling crap, I promise to show you all the results of my quest tomorrow

For now, keep the shiny side up!

Scott

New size

Ok I am consulting my designer on a new size for the FW 190. it was 40" span.

I only have a 400xt outrunner and CC phoenix 10 to power the plane, so I am thinking that a 30" span version would work pretty good.

What do you guys think, 400xt, CC phoenix 10, 3s lipo, and 30" span?

under 12 oz?

Signing on. Looking forward to the build, Scott.
As far as I know, you'll be the first to actually build this one. It'll be interesting to see how light you can keep the 30" version.

The tiled 40" prints can be found here:

And the 30" here:

Looks like a nice project. Where are the front landing wheels?

Scott printed out the 30" set and discovered I'd messed up the rescaling. The wings and other components didn't stay in proportion. Sorry about that guys. I'll re-do them tonight if I can, and re-post them on the other thread.

Good luck Scott, looking forward to your build. These printed planes are an insanely great bang for the buck.

I just found this thread and its really interesting. I think I may have to build one. I have a question about the prints and how they are applied. Take the FW190, the top and bottom view. Are these only for use if you build a full fuselage. I hope this isn't a dumb?

You're right, most of the time the top and bottom would not be used. But sometimes folks make a full-fuse and I think Chris was being helpful.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I would go with the 40", but I bet either size would be good flyers if set up right and would look very cool.
