My 12 year old son Nick, flies my Steigeisen

he turned 13 about a month after this video was taken...it was taken this past November.

VID_20121007_132812.3gp (0 min 55 sec)

it's easy watching, as it's less than a minute long.

IMG quotes won't work for youtube videos. I fixed it for you.

Pretty impressive for a 12 year old. Looks like he has the launch and catch pretty well figured out.

thanks for fixing that for me... Appreciate it.
and thanks for explaining to me how to do it, I just edited it.

he's been around the big boys for a while...going to contests with me for the past 5 years with the ESL.
he still always talks about Oleg.

I think he finally might be starting to get the bug.
we'll see what happens.

yeah, so far so good.

he needs to work on his thermals though... yesterday, he had a 10 minute flight (timed for landing on the spot), from a 75 foot hookup in his Radian Pro.

and he already knows how to read air pretty good.

I don't want him to get his ass kicked by some hardcore pilots too soon.

yeah, I decided to quit torturing Nick by giving him 40 inch foamies or my old 60 inch foamies that are trashed.

Kenny, that's the way they learn. If they got "the spirit" it will show up pretty quick.
Otherwise it's just "daddys" dream.

Hi Kenny.

Nice to see your son flying.

My son is 12 rigt now turning 13 in july. He just attended his second contest yesterday.
The first was a month ago. At the first competition we helped him with the throws, but yesterday he was all on his own.

Allright he didn´t win, but he didn´t end up last. Thats a victory. And you now what.
The learn so fast, and at a competition they´ll pickup more than we can ever dream off.

Take him out there, and give him a plane to fly.
I bet you he´ll move up the ranks faster than you´d ever imagined...

A proud dad...

I am well aware of that.nevertheless, thank you for pointing that out.

Bottom line, is that he had not practiced enough to be proficient enough to fly in a contest.

In order to stick with it even a little bit, he has to have some spirit... sometimes I am tough to be around, because if I don't watch myself, I'll push him like someone who works for me.

I think that if I would have let him compete in any contests last year, it would have been evidence that it was my dream, and not his.
at this point, neither one of us have dreams of competing in the World Championships... We are there to have fun with others and each other...and to learn.

that's pretty cool.

Nick has flown in a few contests over the years.
for me, there is a fine line between pushing him too hard, and letting him enjoy himself.

Right, IT's easy. If they get up in the morning by them self, it's worth working on
