As I discussed earlier I decided to get a test plane instead of messing with the test stand further.
Got a Seagull Decathlon .40. As a side note, great ARF & the NGH fits perfectly.

Anywho I ran it up & down the street taxi testing without a wing for 10 to 12 minutes burning quarter of a tank on 20 to 1 petroleum oil mix. No issues!! Using 10X7 MAS prop I got 14000 rpm at top end (surprise!) but could not get under 3000 for idle. And as stated above at idle throttle is near or at half open. Don't know when I'll get to maiden, back to work tomorrow. Will keep you informed.

Also can not hand start this gasser even primed & warm. A starter seems mandatory.

Thought some good news would raise some hopes! The problems can be ironed out!

Use a 32:1 mix and you will void any warranty.

Manufacturer specifies 20:1 for running in, after that no less oil than 25:1.

Oil must be full synth JASO FD spec.

I would never use synthetic to wear in an engine. Just doesn't happen on synthetic but will be switching after the first gallon is run through.

Today I flew GT9 - First flight of 10 minutes and all normal - suddenly shut down with less than 3 minutes

Something called me a note, and she turned a propeller loose ... had no compression - a propeller spun free - How was no spark

Might pull the head and see if it blew a head gasket if it has one, or popped a hole in the piston.

Gord, Bet that you broke the con rod. Since you noted something while flying, I'm thinking this is the problem. I had the same problem w/ my JBA. This usually is attributed to insufficient lubrication. However, I had it happen twice and when looking at the rod, the first time it look like a casting defect.

If he takes the muffler off, which would be simpler, it would show the broken rod. As you say, if the piston don't move, it's the rod.

Fly/Gord: Also switched to Stihl HP. No problem since and the engine has pop-over compression just like a new glow engine. Can't wait to get my hands on this little jewel. Bob

My JBA 15cc broke the conrod. It was repaired under warranty and the tech said there was NO indication of a lack of lubrication. This is a quality issue, period.
