Keeping old helis flying?
Do you take apart your old helis and re-use for parts and not think about it? I just spent about 5 hours on the EXI450 last night, and it is flying again. I used the last of my spares for a few parts, and yeah, the parts can be crap, but It is ready for another 250 flights. Not for 6S operation though. I'm thinking about this one http://www.oomodel.com/tarot-450-pro...s-p-61751.html
So you have an ok heli, but bought a better one, do you just put it on the shelf or take it apart? I don't think I'll be flying this first rebuilt one, except if my rebuilt FB 450 flies into an asphalt at 70mph, but then that can be rebuilt. ![]() Why do you buy a whole new heli & put the old one on the shelf (or take it apart)? Thanks. |

Hey guys picking up that hk500 tomorrow and just wondering if anyone has any er9x settings for it? If not I will probably go with whatever he has in his dx8 to start off on my 9x. Any recommendations for cheap canopies?

I have a problem with wanting to keep them all flying. I'm not sure how to explain it. It's probably OCD or boredom, but if I have a broken bird, I want to fix it and fly it. Even just once. If I take it apart, it's like it never existed. There is some compadre with birds I've flown, and have spent countless hours working on and flying (like 50 hours on the TX), and have a problem letting go

I have a lot of experience with 250's, 450s and even the little cp micros so the programming aspect of it is not an issue. I actually enjoy tinkering with it and figuring out what works best for me, just wanted a good starting point. Off to check out some canopies. Thanks! |

I've actually cut down my airplane fleet by selling and destroying foamies with rash and balsa frames for a 50% discount, but helis can live forever if you want. It is tough to sell a clone heli for $150, with tech support to local flyers or just collect the parts for spares..
I now like the disassembly. Thanks RCG! |
