LED Light questions
I have these lights :
and I plan on installing them on this plane :
Now I will use my own TX and RX....I will have a couple free channels and wish to use one to plug this system into and I wish to be able to turn them on and off ,will it work as is OR will I have to install a Aux.on/off switch to do that ?
I will not be doing allot of night flying, mostly at Dusk, just wanted something to help see the plane better at that time .
Any help or suggestions or recommendations are appreciated.
Plus one other thing. To install the wiring I see many planes have a slot cut into the wing to put the wire in, if i were to do it that way would that weaken the wing ? This particular plane has a balsa wood brace placed in a slot in the wing already...reason why i ask. I have seen some people place carbon strips down their wings to strengthen them, just wondering.
Thanks in Advance.

just keep the slit near the thicker area of the wing, just deep enough to bury the wire, wont take much, and you'll be fine

Many folks will either surface mount the LEDs and face them outward or cut a slot in the foam and face them either forward or rearward. I found that surface mounting faced outward was way too bright and made it hard to see and fly the plane. I found that installing the LEDs in a slit and facing them forward or aft only lit a small portion of the wing.
I decided to face my LEDs inward toward the foam and let them shine into and through the foam. I only needed to cut small shallow divots for each LED element and then I was able to put a layer of tape over the light strip. This installation didn't weaken the wing structure, in fact it added strength along the bottom of the wing.
